Once the holidays end, packing everything away can feel overwhelming, but smart storage now means easier decorating next year. Use one or several of these holiday storage ideas that you will thank yourself for next year.
1. Categorize Before You Pack
Sort your decor by room or décor type (tree ornaments, lights, mantle décor or living room, kitchen, foyer, outdoor).
2. Label Clearly
Use printed labels or color-coded bins (red/green = Christmas, blue = winter).

3. Protect Fragile Items
Wrap ornaments in tissue or store in divided containers. Wreath bins can be helpful in preventing the wreaths from getting flattened or smooshed.
4. Wrap Lights on Cardboard or Spools
No more tangled cords in January. You can find bins that come with spools specifically for lights. If new bins are not in the budget consider using cardboard to make your own spools for lights.
5. Donate or Discard Broken Décor
Don’t store things you don’t love or use. Be honest with yourself. Are you really going to use those broken ornaments? Are you really going to fix the broken items? If not, it’s time to let them go. They aren’t doing you any good if they are broken.
6. Use Vertical Storage
Maximize garage or basement space with shelving units. Vertical space can be your best friend for storage.

7. Bonus Tip:
Keep one small “First Out” bin labeled Next Year’s Essentials (hooks, extension cords, wreath hangers).
Happy Holidays! Hopefully some of these tips will help you stress less when you pack it all away. And if just don’t want to do it, call me! You’ve got a friend (who loves storage) in me!
